Minot Park District Forestry Department
Minot's Forestry Department is responsible for the upkeep of our city and park trees. There are certain trees that are not allowed to be planted on the city right-of-ways. If you are interested in planting on the boulevard, the Forestry Department has a tree-planting program to promote boulevard planting. The Forestry Department also writes a number of tree grants to help fund the cost of landscaping the city and the parks. If you have any tree-related questions feel free to call me.
Currently, we are under a pest alert. Green Ash have come under attack in the state of Michigan, reaching as far as illinois. Therefore, we plan on diversifying our planting. Green Ash has been over-planted, leaving us with alot of potential host trees. This is not meant to scare you, but rather make you aware. If you should notice your ash tree declining or showing symptoms that you haven't seen before, please do not hesitate to call us.
Have a great summer.
Brian Johnson, City Forester
